Hi
I have a problem with my broadband connection when I hook up my telephone
extension, I have a twin socket plugged straight into my main BT phone
socket, one lead goes off to my computer and downstairs telephone, the other
goes up to my upstairs phone only, I have micro filters on both lines, but
for some reason the extension gives me problems when it is hooked up, if I
unplug it it's fine.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

What sort of problems? Are you saying that BB works when plugged into the
master socket, but not when plugged into an extension socket?

What sort of cable is used for the extensions - is is proper twisted pair
telephone cable, terminated in wall-mounted extension sockets, or is it just
phone extension leads, with a moulded plug at one end and a moulded socket
at the other? Unless it's proper cable, it could well be the cause of your
problem.

Ideally you should isolate any extension wiring with a Microfilter.

I have a master socket with detachable faceplate. I removed the faceplate and
plugged a microfilter into the internal socket. I connect my ADSL modem to the
microfilter and I connect the faceplate to the microfilter (using a doubler).

That way all the extension wiring and any noise that it picks up is isolated
from the ADSL modem. You can buy special faceplates that encorporate a filter.
On marginal lines BT will sometimes fit them FOC

filter (inc sky TV) it turned out I had a duff extension..tried a new
one and it worked fine.

Hi Newboy

Assuming all your sockets have filters inc sky tv then try a new
extension..that was my prob and a new one cured it after days of
trying to sort it.
