Use SNMP if you can instead. You can use more tools that way, which is
better for monitoring.

Hello all
I am new to expect and am developing a expect script to
automate testing of the routers ans switches.How do i store the string
returned from expect in a buffer or a file?

have you played with the *log* commands.
man expect
