Excuse bumb question!

Hi all

My PC is connected up to stereo system. Am I right in thinking that my
daughters PC linked by Ethernet/Cable, can't play files on either of our PCS
through the stereo..( not via her sound card?) ie, she can`t control
software on my pc.

No. If she loads up an MP3 from your computer via her own, it will play
using her soundcard and speakers.

You could set it up so she has remote desktop access to your computer. That
way she could login as if using your desktop, play MP3's and they would play
from the Stereo sound system
