I've probably mentioned this before, but what is the point of an ETA fix
for congestion at an exchange when those times are constantly missed,
then revised?

Manchester Central has had the following:

"BT is reporting that some of the virtual paths at this exchange are not
operating within BT Wholesale's planning guidance, although they are
still operating within the product specification."

for several months now. Every time am ETA fix date comes, it passes and
a new ETA is set. I've emailed plusnet about this twice, and I get the
same "we can't do anything" answer. Should I just give up on this, and
accept that I have a below par internet connection? During the day, it
rarely gets better than the 2MB I had in the suburbs...

I'm frustrated by plusnet's non-response- i.e. I wish they'd just tell
the truth- you're screwed, live with it!

The problem is with BT Wholesale and affects all ISPs not just Plusnet. BTW
are a law unto themselves and you are stuck with it unless you go to an
unbundled supplier.

for all we know the times are constantly met. There is only a single
indication for a whole exchange that means *one of* the virtual paths
is out of spec. In a large exchange with multiple DSLAMs and perhaps
hundreds of VPs it is conceivable that the fixing of one and the
deterioration of another overlap and the red status never clears.
There isn't enough info in the public domain to know.
