I named my server "x" - which seems to be a very bad computer name...

Whenever someone accesses a share using \\x\share\ "Everyone" permissions
applies; If "Everyone" is denied access, the user accessing the share will be
denied to - even if it's an admin user!

However, if i log on using \\10.0.0.2\ (the IP of computer "x") permissions
are normal!

Does anyone know whats wrong?

Is it a security feature that can be turned off? Is it a bad computer name?
(too short?)

I don't want to set up all my shares with "Full control" for "Everyone". :P

what are the actual "everyone" permissions on the share?

If you deny a group on anything it takes precident regardless of what other
group that user may be in. Including administrators.

Hello,

I have not denied everyone antything. Just uncheck "Write" or/and "Read". If
everyone has read- and administrator have full controll, the administrator
will still be limited to read when logged on using \\x\share\
