I am receiving following system event on the Windows 2003 Server with two NIC
cards on the same subnet.

"A duplicate name has been detected on the TCP network. The IP address of
the machine that sent the message is in the data. Use nbtstat -n in a command
window to see which name is in the Conflict state."

I cannot see any IP address conflict in the command window
"Local Area Connection:
Node IpAddress: [10.104.16.148] Scope Id: []

NetBIOS Local Name Table

Name Type Status
---------------------------------------------
EMEADISF00308 <00> UNIQUE Registered
RCAE <00> GROUP Registered
EMEADISF00308 <20> UNIQUE Registered
RCAE <1E> GROUP Registered

Local Area Connection 2:
Node IpAddress: [10.104.16.147] Scope Id: []

NetBIOS Local Name Table

Name Type Status
---------------------------------------------
EMEADISF00308 <00> UNIQUE Registered
RCAE <00> GROUP Registered
EMEADISF00308 <20> UNIQUE Registered
RCAE <1E> GROUP Registered

Need an urgent help on this issue

Hi - see my reply to your identical post in m.p.windows.server.general. In
the future, please don't multipost - if you need to post to multiple groups,
it's best to crosspost instead, by posting a single message to a handful of
relevant groups (separate the NG names with commas) so that everyone can
follow the thread. Multiposting wastes everyone's time, including yours, and
may lead to your actually getting *less* help rather than more.

See http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm

(and you'll have a better time in the newsgroups if you use a newsreader
client instead of the icky web interface).

This is usually due to multhoming. Please provide an unedited ipconfig /all and post it to your other post in the other group. We will check it from there.

Thank you

Just to add, it appears the two interfaces, 10.104.16.148 and 10.104.16.147, are on the same subnet. Any reason why? If you are trying to load balance the two interface for better throughput, fault tolerance, or both, you are better off teaming them so they act together as one with one IP. To achive teaming would depend on the NIC manufacturer, and the manufacturer's actual driver/software set, which provides this capability. Let me know what brand and model# they are and we can take it from there.

Otherwise, the dupe name error will continue.
