Event Id:1030
Error: Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. A
message that describes the reason for this was previously logged by the
policy engine.

This one isn't an error, but I when I get the 1030 error, this is close
to the same time.
Event ID:1704
Error: Security policy in the Group policy objects has been applied
successfully.

I have tried everything dealing with the DNS and everything is fine. I
just want to know how to fix this problem because the errors are
getting annoying.

Thanks

Have you tried using the tools Netdiag and dcdiag? You probably have. But
if not give them a go. netdiag -v will provide detailed information and it
produces a log file netdiag.log in the directory it is run from. There may
be some clues in there. LDAP queries may not be working. with dcdiag use the
/s:[dcservername] switch if the machine with the error is not a DC itself.

The only other thing I could suggest is to run a gpupdate /force on the
machine with the 1030 error. This should trigger the event and may allow you
to align time and date with events on your DC / GC. Check the security log
on the DC/GC the machine attempting to get the GPO may have a problem with
it's security or computer user account.

Regards

I tried to use Netdiag, but I get an error about the DNSAPI.dll error.
How do I fix this? I just need to get rid of this error. I don't get
any other errors at all, just this one.

Ensure you are using the correct version of Netdiag. Download the latest
version from www.microsoft.com. The Windows 2003 Support Tools are a
separate installation and the netdiag and dcdiag designed for Windows 2000
will not run on Windows 2003.

Our office uses XP. Will the 2003 version run on XP?
