The more important question is why it took the BBC five days to run the
story.

Perhaps they waited for confirmation from Ofcom that it was investigating,
whereas requests for it to 'look into the matter' might have been the only
'news' they could have broadcast before today.

Also, would question the 'five days' - where was it being reported as a
news item 5 days earlier, please? I can see items on AG and ISPreview:w

Perhaps - doesn't stop the BBC reporting other news where the facts are
not confirmed.

BT Wholesale notice was dated 21/08/2006 (Monday) - today is Friday
25/08. Perhaps that isn't five days to you - but to me that is five days.

And further why (BBCR4 Today programme about 8am) it was reported that
due to a glitch it would take 10 days to issue the necessary codes to
transfer

Nobody can. Euro1 have now admitted that they cannot issue MACs for these
lines.

Mainly because it is not of great interest, not worthy of coverage and they
only run stories like that when there is nothing else about.

Cannot. BT have placed cease orders on the lines hence no MAC can be
raised in respect of those lines now.

It looks like E1 defaulted on their contract with BT from what BT have
stated. E1 have indicated that they might be considering legal action
against BT however none of that makes a jot of difference unless BT cancel
the cease orders on those lines.
