Ethernet: "Your network is not complete"

PC running Win98SE. I have previously installed a USB
ADSL modem and all worked fine. I have now installed a
Netgear FA311 PCI ethernet card and a Netgear DG834G ADSL
modem/router.

The ethernet connection is OK (ie, all the right lights
are on) but the PC is unable to get an IP address from the
router's DHCP server. I have tried several obvious things
such as dropping to 10Mbps, different ethernet cable etc.

Whenever I open the network control panel, I get this
message: "Your network is not complete. Do you want to
continue".

I have the following network components installed:
- Microsoft Family Logon
- Dial-Up Adapter
- NETGEAR FA311/FA312 PCI Adapter
- TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter
- TCP/IP -> NETGEAR FA311/FA312 PCI Adapter

I have second PC (Win2k) connected to the router and all
is fine.

Does anyone have insight into the "Your network is not
complete" message?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Martin

That message indicates that Client for Microsoft Networks isn't
installed, so the computer isn't able to access other computers on the
network.

Thanks Steve! This has fixed the "Your network..."
message.

The other (larger, as it turned out) problem was something
to do with the ethernet card. Moving this to another PCI
slot has brought it all to life.
