I'm trying to install the Microsoft PCI MN-130 Ethernet adapter. The setup
software goes into a loop. It arrives at a point where it tells me to shut down
the computer and install the card. When I bring up the machine after installing
the card, it tells me that now that we've installed the card, I can continue
with the setup and I should press "next." But when I press "next," it tells me
once again to install the card (BTW, the LED lights up on the card). I can't
break out of these two screens to finish the install. Any ideas?
The computer is a desktop with a 1 GHz AMD Athlon, 40 MB hard drive, 512 MB RAM,
Win 98SE, and a 56K modem already installed and working, although it took me an
hour to get it working *again* after this Ethernet installation fiasco. BTW,
Ethernet components seem to assume that you want to connect everything to a
broadband connection. Broadband is not now and may never be available in my
neighborhood. My interest is sharing files between my desktop & laptop.
