Hi,
I currently have a PC with a PCI 802.11b card connecting to a 3com
access point. I have one IP address assigned to me on the subnet, and
can't get any others.
Problem is, the signal quality is poor, and I need to get the client
higher, so the obvious solution is one of the ethernet clients.
I obtained a D-link DWL-1500, which can act as a client, but supposedly
with the same sort of problems that a WAP11 can have being a client.
I can connect to the wireless network using it, and also connect to it
on the wired network. But I'm confused how to assign IP addresses.
The IP assigned to me is 10.168.90.155. If I set the DWL-1500 to this,
what do I then set my PC to? It has to be on the same subnet, or I
cannot communicate with the DWL-1500, but at the same time, I can't use
any other IPs in that range as they are assigned to other people.
I realise the device can't do NAT or anything, but I can't see how I can
get it to work as a true client using only the one IP address.
I also have a WET11 on order. Can this act as a client with only one IP
in use?
