Ethernet card installation

I installed an Ether fast 10/100 LAN card Model #LNE100TX
version 4.1 ( Link Sys ) to the Motherboard of a Dell T600
computer with WIN98 second edition.
Problem: Windows gave an error message. It could not read
the software which came with the product on a CD. I wonder
did anybody else have this problem?
Do I need to check/add files in my computer?

The usual solution is to obtain updated drivers for the card from the
LinkSys web site.
You may already have the needed drivers etc. on the system.
