Ethernet and Wi-Fi all networked together - how ?

Hi everybody,

I have a problem I would like some help with. I have 3 machines :

A: 1 WinXP Pro with a 100Mbit NIC (connected to a network switch)
B: 1 WinXP Pro with a 100Mbit NIC (connected to a network switch) *and* a
PCI Wireless Network adaptor
C: 1 WinXP Home with a Wireless Network adaptor (it's a laptop).

There is also an ADSL modem connected to the network switch, "feeding"
internet access to the two wired machines.

Finally, *there is no* wireless access point, I am trying to have the WiFi
machines connect on a peer-to-peer (AdHoc) wireless network.

Now, what I need to do is, first of all have *all three* machines be able to
"see" each other and have access to each other's files. Then, the final goal
is to have the laptop be able to have internet access.
So, in theory, I think I should setup the wired network successfully between
machines A-B, then set up a wireless network between B-C, and then... I
don't know, bridge the Ethernet and WiFi connections on machine B ?

So far I 've only been able to successfully set up *either* a working A-B
wired network *or* a wireless B-C one. At one point, I even had both
networks functioning properly at the same time; but still, even then there
were only A-B and B-C connections, no A-C. I could not have the laptop (C)
see machine A or the router, and of course, no internet access.
At that point I thought that ok, I have both networks running, now I should
bridge them on machine B, so I tried it, but it didn't work, so I was back
to square one.

I tried with both manually assigned IPs and DHCP-assigned ones (provided by
the modem's DHCP server function). The best case scenario above was achieved
when the two wireless adaptors had DHCP-assigned IPs.

Can anyone help me with a step-by-step guide ? Maybe a link to one online or
something ? I 've done a lot of searching about this myself, but I can only
find either Access Point setup tutorials (I need peer-to-peer) or WiFi-only
tutorials (I need a combo of wired Ethernet and WiFi at the same time).

Apologies for the long post, but as I always do when I seek help, I tried to
give as detailed and accurate a description as I could.

If you 're still reading this far, thanks ! I 'd appreciate any help anyone
could give.

nick
