Windows 2003 standard server, pre SP1 install. Server is on a small network
with one Windows 2000 Primary Domain controller on which I ran adprep for
forest and domain. The computer (w2003) has full network connectivity,
everything seems to be working OK but since this is a new install I want to
make sure its clean. (Having problems when I come to install SP1, this is my
fourth install on this computer to get SP1 to work OK)
So before I install SP1 now I want to make sure no errors during start-up
before next update.

I get this error event in the system log when restarting computer.
This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain
controller in domain XXXX due to the following:
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.
This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is
connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your
domain administrator.

EventID 5719

Why would I get this error message but then have the network appear to run
OK? The MS help is useless to me on this subject, I gotta be stupid.

SO, do I need to fix something on the w2k PDC (its SP4 and has all the
latest critical updates), or do something on this (w2003) computer.

Thanks for any help,

Bob

this is most of the time a generic error.
Start reading this page. It has a lot of info about this error.
