In addition to Myweb's suggestion, have you tried searching the reg for the
old Exchange machine name? I had this problem at a client with a DC they
removed from the domain, but it had failed a demotion. I found it in the reg
with a search. You will also want to check Component Services as well
(mentioned in the eventID.net article Myweb posted).
