Error Copying small (1KB) Files between 2 ME Networked CPU's

I've got two ME computers (1-desktop, 1 notebook) networked
via linksys router. Most everything works fine. However,
when trying to copy from one computer to the other (desktop
to laptop) small sized files (many 1KB) the system will
take forever and then write (sometimes) the wrong file size
on the laptop. For example one folder on the desktop has
40 files each having just 1KB file sizes. After copying
several files have more than 1KB. One 79KB, one 22,785KB,
38KB, etc. Large file sizes copy just fine. Last night I
copied a 12MB file over the wireless to laptop in less than
2 minutes.

I've tried this over the wireless network as well as wired
ethernet. The problem is the same on both.

Any ideas on what I need to check?

Thanks folks.
