Error 721 & 650 Broadband Alcatel Speedtouch ADSL USB

Error 721 Remote Computer Not Responding or 650 under Windows 9x is often
related to an incorrect VPI/VCI Setting. It should be VPI 0 VCI 38 check
your Alcatel Speedtouch Diagnostics. My VPI was 0 and VCI was 100 and I
could not connect to my broadband provider Error 721. Editing the registry
string has no effect so the best way is the download the CD Drivers from
http://www.speedtouch.co.uk/usb.asp those drivers have a phonebook.ini set
to VPI 0 VCI 38 and after installing those I could connect no problem. Your
mileage may vary and the site above has phonebook.ini settings for other
situations.

If you found this post and are using a different modem. You still need to
check your VPI/VCI settings are correct and may need to use different
drivers or configure in some other way. Donations to via Paypal to
