Error 680 : no dial tone

When I try and connect to Tiscali Broadband I keep getting an Error
messgae - saying Error 680 no dial tone - when I then hit redial it
connects? -any idea why I get this and the possible solution?

There could be a number of reasons as to why you get error 680.
1) Error 680 with ADSL light flashing (assuming ur using a USB modem)
-> Check for the physical connectivity in your house, if you use
filters check whether there are 2 filters in series.. , try swapping
them .. maybe the filter that you use is faulty, take out all devices
connected on that phone line .. say for example a cordless base unit
running on a high frequency, alarm system etc..., check if the
extension is too long ( if you are connecting using an extension), if
nothing works plug in the whole setup directly to the main tel.
socket( the one coming into your house).

2) Error 680 with no ADSL light.
Follow same as above, else, try contacting your ISP to check line
status.
