Hi

Canīt get rid of error 4321 NetBT on a XP workstaion, this after putting a
new 2003 DC,sp1 in the network.

The name "<server name>" could not be registered on the Interface with IP
address <ip address 1>. The machine with the IP address <ip address 2> did
not allow the name to be claimed by this machine.

Have tried everything at www.eventid.net with no luck.

Please help

Tomppa

If the network connection is working properly, check the following possible
causes and take corrective action:

1.. The network is down.
2.. The firewall on your computer is blocking out network broadcast
traffic.
3.. Your computer's network interface card or driver is not functioning
correctly

I have full communication with our 2000 DC and its resources, but nothing
works againt our 2003 DC. I cant see why 2000 is working and 2003 not.

Can you ping server 2000 from server 2003? Can you ping the gateway from
2003?
Have you a WINS server on the network?
Have you enabled NTbios over TCP/ip on the server?

Hi

Yes I can ping both ways also with computername. I can ping gateway
No we dont have WINS
NetBios over TCP/IP was set to auto (default), I enabled it and booted the
server but I have not had time to test yet. In the morning I will test
again.

Other XP:s and 2000 clients works fine in the net

No, I havent changed the NIC.
The user is now on vacation and will soon get a new computer. The old one
(under 1 year) will be formatted and past on to another user. Hopefully it
will work then :-)

Thanks for all your tips
