I have a desktop and laptop wirelessly networked through an access point
- all hardware produced by Belkin.

The signal strength varies between very good , through good to low and
then no signal at all. These variations can occur during a one minute
spell,
which does not make it very easy to work consistently, and is certainly
hair tearing!.

Can any subscriber offer a reason and a cure?

try a different channel, for example 1 and 13. Interference is a
feature of radio.

Or a Cat5 wire between the 2 PC's and forget the wireless ... much
more reliable.
