Hi guys

Im considering changing my ADSL equipment. I am currently using a PCI card
but start to dislike this. I have previously used a USB modem but it didn't
like my pc. I want some advice on what else I could try that doesn't require
a PCI slot, a USB port, and has its own power source. I don't want to use
wireless.

Thanks for any advice

Somewhere along the line you're going to have to plug something into your
PC! The only option you're leaving open seems to be an ethernet modem or
router/modem used wired ethernet rather the wireless version, but you'll
then need to use a PCI slot for the NIC unless your PC has ethernet built-in
on the motherboard.

Ian.

You're not leaving yourself many options. If you go for an external Ethernet
modem or Ethernet modem/router combo, you'll need a slot for the NIC!

I think your only option left is an ethernet solution. I think most
will agree that a seperate router and modem is what you want.
The ethernet units will work entirely independently of the PC. USB and
PCI modems will use some of the PC's processing power.
I would offer some suggestions on which ones but I'll probably get
flamed so won't bother. There is quite a bit in the archive on this
subject!

Read any of the threads about routers, it might give you a clue ;-)
