We have about 50 employees and have been using Symantec's Antivirus solution
version 8.1 but it is very expensive to upgrade to their current version and
if I'm going to spend that kind of money I might want to consider another
product at this juncture. I wanted to ask if anyone had an recommendations
or warnings as what to use or not use.

I've used McAfee for a long time but don't really care for it much. Here's one
you might try that's completely free:

I would spend the money to stay with Symantec. We were forced to upgrade to
McAfee to save some money and ..well you get what you pay for. We really
haven't saved anything as we are plagued by various issues which we have to
spend extra time troubleshooting.

I completely agree with that. Stay with Symantec, you cannot afford not to
for businesses. Don't try to save money on critical issues.

I would get a bid for Trend Micro as well as Symantec.

We were using NAV 7.6 until last year. I tried out the Trend Micro
enterprise solution and it priced out comparably to SAV. Also, pretty
easy to install, implement and maintain.

Management wanted to play it safe and upgrade to SAV 10. Frankly,
implementing an upgrade from NAV to SAV was not any easier, IMNSHO, than
replacing it with Trend Micro. If we were to do it again, I would be
more insistent in migrating. They have a 30 day trial that you can
download and test...

BTW, another poster recommended a free program. I'm extremely reluctant
to consider/recommend a free AV for personal use. I would never consider
it for a corporate environment.

Hank Arnold

Sophos AV - excellent alternative to Sykantec. We use both and they are both
excellent.
