The weather has been nice and my wife has wanted to use her laptop outdoors
on the patio. Using a Linksys PCMCIA wireless network card, reception is
marginal. Sometimes, it drops out altogether. Hence, I've been looking for
ways to increase my wireless network coverage area. I purchased a Lynksys
WAP11 thinking I could use it as a repeater with my wireless BEFW11S4
router/access point, however the WAP11 won't communicate directly with the
wireless modem/AP. I would have to purchase another WAP11 to make this
work. I took the WAP11 back.

I discussed my situation with a friend who's in the wireless network
business and he let me try an EnGenius NL-2511CD PLUS EXT2 network card.

It absolutely *blows away* the Lynksys card. I went from a marginal signal
(with frequent dropouts), to a *good*, reliable signal.

Needless to say, I'm *very* impressed. I had never heard of EnGenius
before, but after checking out the equipment they have available, I'm
certainly going to keep them in mind when the time comes for me to upgrade
my wireless network.
