Makes sure your PCMCIA port(s) are enabled and working in your bios
settings.
Make sure you're using Win 98 second edition with all available updates.
MS announced that they are dropping all support for Win 98. No big
surprise there, but I'd move up to at least Win 2k, although you can
find XP home for under $100 bucks. First check to make sure your
hardware is compatible with whatever OS upgrade you do. OR, get a Sony
VIO with Intel / Centrino and call it a day.
