Emule Slow on Plusnet

Hi. I have a Plusnet Plus broadband accout and regularly use Emule for
my p2p filesharing. It has been fine until over the the last day or
two the download speeds have reduced to almost nil. I have made no
changes to the Emule settings. I contacted Plusnet who said that they
had been shaping their service for quite some time now but that if I
wanted a better service I should upgrade to Premier. Has anyone else
had a similar experience recently or can anyone suggest any reason for
the change? Thanks in anticipation. Colin.

They throttle, sorry shape, premier also. Perhaps not quite so much on p2p
but more on usenet. There is also the sup which won't worry you if you are
a light user (yet) but if you exceed the (unacknowledged) cap you will be
penalised.

Thanks for the Info I was about to join, choosing another ISP more wisely
now - there spiel on the website is very misleading.

Old Codger's comments in the 'Which Broadband' thread are a pretty fair
and accurate summary of the situation and you're right, the website is very
misleading, criminally so in my opinion.

Despite its poor reputation I've never experienced problems with any P2P
client when using AOL.

Thanks for the comments. I just wanted to say I have solved the
problem. Thinking back I downoaded bear share the other day and
installed it (was going to try it out later as someone had recommended
it). It was the only thing I could think of that had changed in the
last few days. I uninstalled it, rebooted, and emule downloads on
plusnet are back as they were. So take note, be careful with bear
share. Colin.

Only one problem, the RIAA are US (in more than one way) & the last time
I checked we weren't despite the efforts of Tory Tony...

I covered myself with the *whoever*. I do know one person who's UK ISP
was contacted by the RIAA over a filum he'd been downloading/passing on
through some kind of P2P.
