Electric Blankets cause Womb Cancer

Yesterday's Daily Telegraph

Woman who regularly use electric blankets to keep warm at night could be
more at risk of cancer of the womb, according to a new study. Those asked
if they had ever used an electric blanket were 15 per cent more likely to
develop womb cancer than those who had never used them. But among women
who regularly used the devices for 20 years or more , the risks increased
by 36 per cent. Scientists believe the blankets may expose women to llow
levels of electromagnetic radiation. The findings add to the controversy
over whether electromagnetic fields in the home are dangerous. Scientists
at Wayne State University in Michigan, US, came up with the latest
findings after analysing data on more than 90,000 women taking part in a
major health research project. Ther results, published in the European
Journal of Cancer Prevention showed that around 1500 of them had developed
a turour of the womb, known as endometrial cancer.

Dangerous statistics because women who have electric blankets (and I am
sorry to bring this up) have less sex
according to other statistcs I have seen.
Also, people who have electric blankets may live in colder places and may
eat more fatty foods etc etc.

Note to xyl: "Pass me a deep fried mars bar darling and switch off that
ruddy electric blanket."

Electric blankets supposedly cause 5000 fires per year in the UK alone.
Anyone who uses one while they're in bed is therefore heading for a Darwin
award and so uterine cancer is the least of their worries.
