Email forwarding with SPAM protection?

I'm currently using freeparking to host my domain name mainly so that I can
receive mail direct to my server. The server uses some spam block list
providers so that it dramtically cuts down on the smount of spam I receieve
(probably by as much as 75%).

Sometimes the server is unavilable and mail uses my secondary mx which uses
the mail forwarding provided by free parking to send the mail to my isp mail
account. This is how most of the spam mail comes through as neither free
parking or ntl filter the mail.

I don't want to change ISP as I'm very happy with them and in fact I'm very
happy with free parking to - I just need to cut down on spam.

Are there any DNS providers who offer filtered email forwarding?

If your using Exchange 2000 or above as your mail server. There is a very
good add on called GFI Mail Essentials. It creates a folder to collect SPAM
or you can delete it and send NDR.

Do a search for GFI Mail essentials.

Its very recommended, and has a freeware version too.

easydns provide a backup MX which uses several DNS blocklists.

i'd consider losing the secondary MX, guess if it's a home server that's
not always connected that may not be an option, but nowadays most servers
will retry over a fairly long period of time before giving up on sending a
message.

Thanks for that but it seems that easydns can't handle .co.uk domains on
thier web sites, they can only do them manually so that kinda rules them
out.

Anyone know of any others?

I'm using Exchange 2003 that has inbuilt support for RBL.

Virtual Names do mail forwarding and you can enable SpamAssassin on their
servers. Not sure if this works for smtp delivery though (I run SA here
myself), you could ask or read their FAQs.

They handle them automatically for "pure" DNS, it's just domain
registrations and stuff that they have to do manually.

Does Exchange bounce for invalid recipients with a 4xx or 5xx code?
