1st thanx to CJT & Steve Winograd for ur help in previous
postings. & sorry for the late responds - my windw crashes
n wont start, so reinstall the w98se again.

well, now my file sharing is working - minus the ICS.
if i tried to install ICS, & restart, the system will
disable it n returns 'ICS's been disabled. pls make sure
only 1pc on the home has ICS installed; and the file
sharing also won't work.

I hve also tried assigning 192.168.0.1 & 192.168.0.2 to
the host & client resp. won't help.

Going thru the client pc, i can't find any ICS or its
client anywhere there.

How do i locate n disable it? or is there any other way of
correcting this issue?

thanx & regards

I'm afraid I know almost nothing about ICS -- never used it (routers
are cheap and I've heard ICS is a real hassle).

But I'm sure Steve or some other kind person will be able to help.

BTW, you do have two network cards, right -- one for ICS and one for
networking?

Been awhile since I did this but.... and is only as far
as I'm aware. I assume both are win98se, lan in both and
rollover lan cable. Network neighborhoods on both
computers must have the protocals "client for microsoft
networks", "microsoft family logon", "File and print
sharing", "ipx/spx-compatible-protocal"

You ONLY install ICS on the computer with the modem
installed in it (the host). You need a blank disk so the
host can make a disk to run in the second computer with
no modem(the client).

The free ZoneAlarm won't work with networking (at least
back when 3.0 came out) you must use a purchased box
version of ZoneAlarm pro (other firewalls I'm unfamilare
with). Then tell the firewall on the host it is a host
and the firewall on the client it is the client (yes
firewall installed on both).
