Be warned !!!!!
Eclipse are now going down the same road as Plusnet, with regard to LLU
A letter is sent to the prospective "LLUee" telling him/her of the wonderful
improvents to the service both their own and BTs engineers are
making at "your exchange"......and all for the benefit of the customer.
What they *FAIL* to mention in this vague missive, is the fact that its
all to do with LLU !!!!
From what i can gather they (Eclipse) arent using just *ONE* LLU supplier
but it looks like they could be cherrypicking between them all
At least with Plusnet, they offered an opt out scheme

What on earth is all that supposed to mean?

so contact customer support and tell them that you don't want your line
unbundling. From what I've been told they will then flag the line as not
to be changed over.

So what indeed !!!!!!
Go take a look in the Plusnet Forum section at ADSLGuide
And you will *SEE* what
In short, bad connection for *WEEKS* on end
No refunds for the time offline suffered
No clean route away should you want to migrate away
...........etc, etc, etc

three important issues here

1. This is still, as yet, just a trial. It's by no means certain it will
be widespread.

2. Going with LLU means Eclipse can get away from BT's Capacity Based
Charging models. BT are overcharging ISPs massively, and that is a
stranglehold on broadband development.

3. Using LLU delivers traffic to the Eclipse core network. It isn't the
same as LLU delivering to PusNet's congested wires.

It's a shame this government hasn't got the bollocks to take on BT and
break it up properly. The local loop should be more like Network Rail is
for railways, with the 'tracks' being independent and service operators
able to compete on equal terms rather than one monster company setting
the prices. Capacity Based Charging and lack of broadband investment is
stopping Britain moving forward to faster speeds and larger data volumes
at reasonable cost.

If in doubt - migrate *now*. I'd advise you to.

That's no help to the person who gets LLU'd.

So why no price reduction then ?

Uh ? How is that any better ?

Look what happened to Railtrack if you want an example.

BT actually answers the phone which is more than can be said for many of their
competitors ! I can't wait to get back to them.
