My Eclipse connection has not been working since some time this
afternoon - anyone else also not getting a connection (currently using
dial-up)?

The System Status showed a brief ADSL outage late this afternoon....

It's been off since around 16:30hrs today, at time of writing Eclipse's status
page says problem was fixed at 17:35. Well not here it's not, and we're not alone.

Thanks goodness for that, I've spent the evening tearing apart my kit,
and come to the conclusion it cannot be here. Looks like ADSL is working
up to the exchange anyway.

That's what I had too. Always worth checking (via dial up of course) the ADSL
Guide ISP forum pages whenever there's an outage, (I wonder what some of the
people on there did with their evenings before the internet came along !)

hilarious as ever.

"Oh I've been offline for an hour and I'm paying a fortune for this and
I'm egtting my mac code tomorrow I don't pay top dollar for this rubbish
and..."

like ISPs don't have problems occasionally. They should try using a
cheap one where 'engineers' only work 9 to 5 and the support staff are
in India.

Didn't help that BT had a phone outage at exactly the same time in
Exeter either, so support was unavailable as well.

I think the whole thing was my fault actually. Eclipse are the third
ADSL ISP I've now had.
With the previous two I suffered a major failure two weeks after
joining, (but nothing else subsquently), I migrated to Eclipse two
weeks ago ! :-)

Could you warn the NG as to which ISP you'll be going to next, just so we
can avoid any potential outages / problems.

;o)
