Since Freeserve disappeared I have not been able to get a reliable ISP.
I am totally pissed with Plusnet who seem to be getting worse by the day!
So who to switch to?
I need 8Mps unlimited off-peak, news server & average webspace. Hardware not
needed.

Most ISPs I Google have hate squads and few are recommended - none that
suite me :-(

Anyone with Eclipse?

TIA
Slatts

I was with them. Awful. Throttling all over the place and half of their
customer service still deny it!!
Currently with Aquiss. Not unlimited off peak, but 300gb of peak a month and
30gb peak. Very very good so far. Average speed at any time of the day for
me is 5.5Mbs

If you haven't already, have a look at http://www.dslzoneuk.net/ .

I have just this minute signed up with Newnet (leaving Wanadoo) but don't
think they give webspace for free looks like it is an extra £3 a month. To
be honest you would probably be better of having separate hosting with some
like www.34sp.com. Its dirt cheap, you don't have to move it when you move
ISP plus you get a lot more functionality with it like PHP and MySQL
database.

Was tempted to go with http://www.adsl24.co.uk/ who even give you a free
hosting account - will probably move my resellers account to them. Adsl24
are an Entanet reseller but I don't think they have newsgroups but you can
use someone like gignews.

Days of the all in package with a descent ISP seem to be gone. :-(

Yes - we have it through my wife's company. We've had it for over two years
now, never had any outages. It's not the fastest (we are on 1 MEG) but it's
TRULY uncapped. No download limits AT ALL. (See all the Linux distros I've
downloaded! That's the £29.99 per month Flex account). I've put my
Brother-in-law and Mother-in-law both on the Evolution BB - no complaints
AFAIK......

I'll be leaving Eclipse at the end of my 12 month contract - or, very
probably, before the time is up. They have become a farce.

Speeds are very poor (half a meg with a 3 meg router sync speed) and if you
finally get through to tech support (average time seems to be about 15 -20
minutes during the day) you stand a good chance of getting read the usual
shite from their script - which now seems to have added thermostatic
radiator valves to the list of line speed enemies.

There are a couple of helpful tech guys there, and if you make enough of a
fuss your speed will mysteriously increase about an hour after you ring -
and stay good for another few hours, before dropping like a stone, then it's
time to get back into the tech support queue and go through the entire
charade again.....

I've been with them for 8 months, people say that they used to be a very
good ISP before being taken over by Kingston - that might well be true, but
they ain't very good now.

I left Eclipse after 2 years. All of the above applied, plus there was
no way I was going to be pushed into LLU using Tiscali wires.

Too many horror stories about concerning LLU. They now supposedly give
people an opt-out option but I moved anyway and went with UKFSN (Entanet
reseller). And am very glad I did. The improvement was instant.

I was very happy with Eclipse for a number of years but lately their spped
of connection and customer service has gone right down the drain! Send them
an email - no response! Phone - get a time wasting telephone system (Press 1
for xxx, Press 2 for yyy, Press zz for wasting your time). No one is there,
no one cares, find someone else if I were you!

I'm on Evolution level 1, and for me, too, no complaints. Have seen the
comments from heavy downloaders, and while my use is limited in evenings,
and sometimes nil, I am only paying 14.99 and getting good speed for the
downloading I do... Downloads on Saturday (before 1800, when peak hours
start) was over 3 GB. Speed is up to 6 Mbps (since I switched to a new
ADSL 2/2+ router - my max speed before that had been around 2 Mbps).

Just looked at the ukfsn we site. I could find no mention of email, usenet
or web space.
