It's fine - I've had one for about a month now and it works flawlessly
as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for the
money.

If its the conexant chips set which is used in most very cheap routers no
problem, I have a couple running on different sites a single port and a 4
port, both run for months without being re-booted (which strangely both did
yesterday -- must have been a a glitch at the BT exchange)

I've got the single port version and it's done us proud...

well the first reply on the other side of the fence, its cheap for a reason.
The fire wall is near to pointless only having 20 port rules and no port
ranges possible. So on a 4 port router you Only have 20 ports you can map so
constant router reboots if you host anything. Then there's the supposed
improved SPI firewall for it that isn't coming, Origo claim its down to the
flash in the router only being 8mb and it needing 16mb.

Dont get me wrong it does the job but is wide open to attacks until you make
a number of changes, there is one port if you dont DMZ disable it, then
people can login in to it without a password. so some proick could write a
script to reset your router every 10 mins and leave you without a
connection.

So all your making "Safe" uses up half of your port rules so buy something
with a better firewall not this.

ooh, ooh, me too, me too! :-)

I got one about 1 month ago and it is great. Much better than my connexant
PCI thing.

Easy to set up, easy to manage through a web interface (though most users
will probably not need to do any of that gubbins)

Only needed to reset it once and has been on constantly since I got it.
Works with all of my desktop PCs and the laptop (though the laptop has gone
to the laptop insurer's heaven as it fell off my desk)

The router has 4 Ethernet connections and a USB connector, thus allowing 5
PC's to be connected -and you get the benefits of file and print sharing
(though follow Colin Wilson's [visits here a lot] advice of password
protecting the drives just in case a nasty virus gets through)

Cheers

Thanks for that, all Linux here so no probs with blaster etc, but take on
board what you say. Firewalls running on all machines anyway.
