I have just seen a new scam on ebay:

This seller called "azam_mz" is selling what looks like network
routers for cheap prices, but when you read the details of the advert
it says:

"You are biding on the link where you can buy it for the shown price."

So far people are bidding in the region of £40 for a web link!!!

An example of one of the items in question is below:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=3078736509

You are warned! Read the small print when buying from ebay!

DOH!

Just like the good old days when you bought a picture of the item and not
the goods itself!

You should take this up with Ebay, not post it on a public newsgroup. (the
guy might be genuine - just confused...)

How can you tell that people are bidding upto £40 ? All I see is a
value that would at this time secure me an item, not what people have
bid (as that information is hidden until the auction is closed, right
??)

The £40 could be referring to another item (the OP implies that he's seen a
few from the same seller). Taking a look at the seller's other items, there
are a couple which have gone over £40, one being:-

These are pretty common I'm afraid.

Its cheaper at insight anyway - £70.49. Possibly cheaper still if you shop
around.

Hrm. Just going throught some T&C's, dont know if any of these apply:

URL & Catalog Listings
Listings of URLs that offer buyers the opportunity to purchase items
outside of eBay are prohibited.

Misleading Titles
# If your title contains a word or phrase that does not seem to belong,
make sure it is clear from your description why you included that word
or phrase in the title.
# If a bidder can't tell what items you are offering from the title of
the listing, the title is misleading and is not permitted on eBay.

Listings containing misleading titles may be ended early by eBay.
Multiple violations of eBay's Misleading Title Policy could result in
the suspension of your account.

I think ebay have outlawed the selling of links on their site now. You
could report them if you feel it necessary
