To elaborate a little, if you are reading your email from multiple
machines - chances are great that the first machine to connect to the server
will download and *delete from the server* all the current email. What you
need to do is this: decide which machine is the "main" machine for storing
email and then change the configuration on ALL other machines where you
might read that email to "leave email on server"
(That option's location depends a lot on the email client.) Once you do
that you will have less hassles.
