Dynamic or Single Fixed IP?

Seeing that this group has been so helpful regarding opting out of LLU (I
have followed your advice and opted out in time - so I will not be
transferred to the local loop unbundling come 15 November, thanks guys!), I
have another simple question.

I have noticed I also have the option of choosing whether to have a Dynamic
IP address or a Single Fixed IP address on my current set-up with Eclipse.

(I could also have 2 or more fixed usable addresses but since I do not have
a router network connection, that would be pointless).

Again, the Dynamic option, which is what I have at the moment, is working
perfectly. I don't ever play network games, I don't use Skype (I use
jajah.com for free phonecalls, which is an excellent system using voice
over IP but your home phone, totally recommend it).

I don't host any of my own websites on this computer, and do not use Wifi
(although I did use Wifi once to connect to a friendly neighbour's router
when my BT line went down for a bit following an accident with a rather
careless dustcart, overhanging branches and telephone cables, but that's
another story....)

I do use MSN Messenger or LogMeIn to remotely assist less technical
relatives with their computer problems, which works fine. I use some P2P
software which also works fine.

So, given that everything works fine with my default Dynamic option, and
given that I'm staying with my BT IPStream over the BT network, is there
any benefit in my case of moving to a Single Fixed IP address?

Thanks again!
