Dynamic DNS Issue

Hello All,
I recently noticed in DHCP, there are brushmarks on the leased ip
computer icon. I looked this icon up to see what it meant and it's
apparent, we are having a Dynamic DNS Update issue. I open up the DNS
console to see what I could find and noticed that there are several A
records with the same IP adddress as well as PTR records. I not a DNS
expert but I believe this to be the problem. My network has 3
offices. Initially the two satellite offices were having this
problem. After talking to a few techs, I decided to make 2 new
reverse lookup zones for these sites. After creating these, the
problem seemed to have went away, but now it's here in HQ and we
weren't originally having this issue. My IP address scheme is:

HQ: 192.168.1.x/24
Office1: 192.168.110.x/24
Office2: 192.168.120.x/24

I'm not sure what other information to provide, so please advise.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Hello RemyMaza,

In DNS you can configure scavenging to delete old entries.

I'm going to check that on Monday, but I believe this has already been
set. I'll let you know. Thanks for your reply!

This wasn't set for the PDC, however it was set for the BDC. I
changed both of them to scavenge after 3 days, instead of the default
7. Is this setting suitable?

Thanks,
Matt

Hello RemyMaza,

It's okay, but do not set shorter then 24 hours, because once in 24 hours
all servers will deregister, so if the time is shorter your servers can disappear
from the DNS list.

This didn't seem to help. I've set the zones to scavenge every 3
days, then manually selected Scavenge Now. I did that aobut a week
ago, and I still have the same problem. Do you have any other
suggestions?

Thanks,
Matt
