Dynamaic IP issue

My neighbor and I both have dynamic IP services. Mine has a D-Link 614+ wifi
router and three computers and he has a D-Link router hard wired to three
computers (no wi-fi). We both have the same internet provider (SBC). The
only difference is my IP seems to change every other day or so and his
hasn't changed for almost six months. What gives? I work from home and when
I'm at a remote location I use PC Anywhere to connect to my home office. I
know I could get a static IP, but until I got the wi-fi setup the IP never
seemed to change. Am I doing something wrong or should I configure
something differently. Thanks in advance.

Not sure, but until you get it figured out, you might want to look for
IpMailer. This will email you your ip address when it changes. Used it
for vpn with dynamic ip. Good little utility...

Check the logs on the 614+ -- it might be rebooting or might be
resetting the interface for some reason.

Do you switch your router off at night, and does your neighbour leave his on
all the time perhaps?

No, it's always on. The logs say nothing about rebooting. I like the idea
a e-mailing me the address but how would that work for a wi-fi system.
Wouldn't show the DHCP dynamic address not the internets providers given IP.

I use no-ip.com
It's free and allows you to set up an alpha address (something like
jay.no-ip.com) and use that instead of a numeric IP. no-ip.com will forward
that address to your changing IP. I have used it for PcAnywhere and Remote
Desktop Connection.
In my router I forwarded the RDC port to the computer on my LAN that I
wished to access (same for pcAnywhere)
It hasn't missed in over a year with changing IP addresses all the time
