Hi.

I am attempting to wirelessly network two houses. They are about 200
ft. apart, with a clear shot from the east wall of the transmitting
house to the west wall of the receiving house. I am using a D-Link
DI-624 router that I will extend to the east wall of the transmitting
house via Cat5. At the other house, I have just installed a D-Link
DWL-AB520, which has a 6-ft. cabled dipole antenna. I'd like to be
able to extend that antenna to the west wall of the receiving house,
but the antenna cord is too short.

Is there some place I can find a cable extension or something of the
sort that might allow me to place that antenna about 20 ft. from the
receiving computer?

Thanks,
Matt

Yes you can buy antenna cables and extensions. However you want to keep the
antenna cable length as short as possible to minimize the signal loss.

But I see that your second device isa PCI card for one of your PCs. You
could use a USB wi-fi adapter instead that would give you 15 feet of max
cable length.

Suggest you consider another D-Link access point that can act as a client
and then connect to your PC via ethernet. Then you could also add a
directional antenna if necessary.
