Last night I stayed late to install a couple of LNE100 10/100 cards in
the server, just to see if it could be done and if it would make any
difference. Both cards installed just fine with seperate interupts. The
catch was on boot up, the message Error 38 Protocol #1 Computer Name
specified is already in use on the network. (Server was only computer
turned on)Then, Protocol #2 Computer Name is already in use on the
network. To specify a different name, double click network in control
panel. I've read that I need a different subnet mask... any ideas?

Mike

If this "server" is a Windows 98 PC, you may as well quit right where you
are. You aren't going to be able to install two NICs and use them to spread
network traffic or double your bandwidth on the network. Remove the second
NIC and stick with the first one.

You can't have 2 identical NetBios names on the same computer. That is what
is causing your problems. Remove one of the NICs.

Let me append to my answer... you can't have have the same name on 2 nics on
the same machine on the same network.
