Dual network connections?

XP Pro, SP2 desktop with an ethernet card installed and physically connected
to a Belkin Pre-N wireless router. All computers on my home network use
static IP addressing.

Is it possible to also use a USB wireless network card with the above
computer at the same time it's using the ethernet connection? If so, how
should I handle IP addressing? I already know the wireless card will work
with the computer if I disconnect the ethernet connection. Any pointers or
advice is much appreciated.
