Dual APs or Range Expander for 108/54MBs operation?

I have a Linksys WAP54G access point connected to my home office network,
and use a Linksys WRE54G range expander to reach my patio where I can work
outside.

I want to increase my data throughput when in the office so am considering a
Netgear 108MBs setup using the WGT624 router used as an access point and a
WG511T adapter (these are on sale now for a great price from Office Depot).

1. Can I run both access points from the network and switch between them
for both high speed operation at my desk and also regular speeds from the
patio via the expander (assuming the Netgear AP won't reach the patio)?

2. Or, would the Linksys expander work with the Netgear AP under G speeds
so I can use only one AP?

Help will be appreciated!

The best option is number 1, since it will be the easiest. Just get a wired
router, connect both AP's to them, and turn use them JUST as AP's. not
routers, dhcp server, etc. Then use the WIRED router for your configuration
needs, such as DHCP, WAN, etc. That way you can switch between them if you
need to. Let me know what you think.
