dsl ?

Last year I had dsl modem (yahooo service) My problem was the modem had an
ip address of 192.168.0.1 and the gateway router had the same ip address.

I would get to the internet if plugged ethernet cable directly in my
computer, but no cigar if I went througth the wan port on the router
to connect to my home network.

How I'm thinking of trying dsl again, So how would be the best way to
set this up?
