Amy,
You have traces of New.Net causing at least 1 problem.
To resolve this, use HijackThis, Spybot S&D, and expert advice at SWI
Forums (all free). Complete instructions are available at:
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=5187
Also try LSP-Fix, available at <http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm>.
New.Net, Cable Broadband, and Yahoo DSL all require software
customisations on your computer. I would suspect that the combination
of New.Net and Cable Broadband drivers created a configuration that
the Yahoo DSL driver installation couldn't handle.
You have an interesting situation here, and one which may require a
bit of ingenuity on your part. Downloading, installing, and running
software on a computer that won't boot successfully, and probably
won't connect to the network, is going to be a challenge.
If the computer won't connect to the internet, then you'll need to
download the software to another computer (the one you're reading this
on?), and find a way to move that software manually. If the computer
won't boot as is, you'll have to boot into Safe Mode. For Windows ME,
that means restarting, and holding down Ctrl until the Startup menu is
presented.
Please provide some detail about your network connections to start.
What connections do the cable modem and DSL modem use - Ethernet or
USB?
Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
