If it's a PPPoA connection then you can probably get a router/firewall
with a DSL interface, on which you can configure the DMZ host.
DSL here in the UK is mostly PPPoA, and I use a Netgear DG834G which has
this exact feature.
If Verizon have pre-configured your DSL modem, then you should first
check with them that they are happy to provide you with all the
information that you'll need to configure your own router. For this you
will need a Username/Password, VPI/VCI information and possibly IP
address & subnet information.
