DSL Protocol Problem

I have Verizon DSL, and in a recent attempt to defeat Verizon's crap
service and get my money's worth, I got rid of WinPoet (via NukePoet)
and installed RASPPPOE instead. (after installing the Microsoft NDIS
fix)

Things quickly went to hell. I can connect and browse most pages fine,
but everything else is an ordeal. For example, should I click on a
link on a webpage that opens the link in a new window, it WILL NOT
show the page in the new window. It won't load *anything* in the new
window, not even a error message. The new window will just hang there
in a weird-limbo state.

Even worse is my computer's preformance when using Bittorrent. After
loading the torrent file and beginning to download, Windows will lock
up or suddenly reboot for no reason when the file is about 20% to 40%
percent finished.

I've tried deleting the TCP/IP adapter in the Network Neighborhood
properties window like it said to in the RASPPPOE help file, to no
avail.

I also installed the latest drivers for my network card, with the same
results.

Any and all help appreciated.

1.4 Athlon
ECS K7S5A mobo
256 ram
SIS 900 network card
Win98SE
