Some of you may remember that I posted a while back regarding ADSL and a
DACS line.

I put in an order for ADSL with Zen, and the activation and first month
was paid on the 3rd Jan and I've been emailed this morning to say that
the order has been completed and ADSL activated.

Not in work today, but will set it up tomorrow and will believe it when
I see it! but I have to say I'm impressed that it was so quick.

At least I will now be able to upload things via FTP to the company
webspace at a decent speed - being on PlusNet at home that's something I
haven't seen for quite some time !

When my sister's dial-up 56K modem was giving her problems in 2005,
she finally decided to switch to ADSL (she's a busy head of a junior
school and school holidays are almost as busy with monitoring building
work, etc, as school terms). On her behalf, as she had no net access,
I submitted the order at 22:00 Fri 16/12. E-mail from the ISP said BT
expected it to be live by noon on 24/12 (I though "no chance, if it is
not working by 23/12"). Live on Thursday 22/12/05, ISP, PlusNet.

And to follow up on this, got to work and plugged everything in and its
working great. a 1.something mbps max connection on Zen strangely feels
quicker than my home Plusnet fixed 2mbps........

Good to hear. I work for an ISP & the DACS orders drag atrociously. You hear
all these stories about people turning traffic lights off and redirecting
traffic just to split a phone line.

More likely to get into a roadway box to swing a pair to the DP where
it's needed..
