Dramatic Internet Speed Drop

I woke up yesterday and found that my internet speed had dropped quite
a bit. It was normally synced at 3000kbps but now at 1434kbps. I
restarted about 10 times and got the speed up a little. I noticed that
the line attenuation had got slightly worser. Normally at 54db now at
56db. This slight change could not have cuase the problem. My noise
margin had slighty got better. But when i reduced it back to the
normal levels around 6-8 through telnet max speed i got was 1768kbps.
Its that same today. What could be the problem. I have a Netgear
DG834GT router and am with sky's Up to 8meg package.

Note that restarting your router a bunch of times may trick the equipment in
the exchange into thinking you've got a poor quality line, and dropping the
speed even further.

Yes. I'm just guessing.

It may be advisable to ask your ISP to get the card for your line in the DSLAM
reset. This helped me recently.
