Download speed increase

I was browsing a US forum on Broadband settings and found this:-

Type: gpedit.msc

Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates /
Network / QOS Packet Scheduler / Limit Reservable Bandwidth

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This
will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%."

I've tried it myself and found no difference in download speed but I'm
wondering if anyone in the UK has heard of this and has had any success in
increasing download speed?

Can't imagine it working myself. My downloads max at 235KB/s which,
accounting for TCP overhead, is basically the limit of my 2Mbps cap.

You are adjusting the PC ports usage. If it's a 100meg LAN port you are
changing it from 80meg to 100 meg but the original limit of 80meg isn't
a real limit to your ADSL.
