I seen an earlier post of not being able to login to Windows 2003 from Dos.
I'm having the same problem. The reply didn't say how it was possible, just
that it was possible. Does anyone know no a way to allow a Dos machine to
login to a Windows 2003 Domain?

Thanks,
Charity

Generally it is not possible. 2003 uses a higher level authentication
system based on Kerbios. 2000 and older systems do not. The 2003 Domain
must be run in 2000 "mode" to be backward compatible,...this is not possible
once it has been placed in 2003 mode (it won't go backwards). I once heard
that there was a registry hack that would cause 2003 systems to uses a lower
level authentication which would allows older systems to work with it but I
don't remember where I saw it and do not have any links to it.

Another option could be to user a 2000 Server to create a separate 2000
Domain and establish a Trust with the 2003 Domain and then have the older
clients log into the 2000 Domain and then they could use resources from the
2003 Domain via the Trust

I found it, here is the link. They only mention Win95 and early NT4, but
that same applies to anything older.

It's possible. I do this on weekly basis setting up classroms for 2K3
training. I have to connect from a DOS machine to run the unattend scripts
for the install.

Disable the Digitally sign communications referenced in KB article already
posted.
