Domestic Wireless Internet Access from a laptop as a sole PC?

Sorry if this is a dumb question....

Is there some bit of kit - other than another PC :-) - that would
enable wireless internet access around the house for a laptop which is
the only PC in the house? I'm thinking of something that would plug
into the phone socket (it would be an ADSL connection) to relay the
signal without it being another PC

Personally I would recommend you stay well away from that particular
Wireless ADSL Modem router, I have had very bad experience with it
Have heard no bad words about Netgear DG834G or Linksys WAG54G tho
I would definitely advise getting as many opinions as you can tho
